Back on the NEW course for a gorgeous day of golf. Most of the players enjoyed a good walk on a perfect course and the stroke play format.
Unfortunately the pace of the game was not up to our standard ( max 4h) but we were slowed down by several groups of slow players in front of us.
We celebrate the return of the giant Andre Kriesel but 5 months intensive golf training in Canada and USA were shattered by a drastic quarantine in Penny’s Bay, and despite 2 consecutive birdies on 13 and 14, Andre was the winner of the gold medal of the keenest golfer and will enjoy his new expensive ladies watch.
The team competition was fiercely contested and the winning team of Carel, Nicholas, Ian and Darian won by one stroke on the last hole..
Shot of the day went to Ian McGovern for a perfectly executed chip on his knees in the bunker on hole 12…for ..birdie! A deserved 100US$ from Golfasian.
Matt Burke will turn professional very soon by winning soooo much money yesterday . 2 two’s, 2 nearest pin, sharp shooter ..
Two’s : as we now allow guests to participate in this competition, 2000$ were shared by Matt ( 800), Andre, Martin and ..a guest Jason Atkins..
Best front nine went to the pupil of Bernhard Langer : Lorenz Zimmerman off 23 Handicap (??) and a net 33… A USGA investigation is on the way…
Best gross went to Felix (Lewis) Hamilton with a superb 74 gross..
The runner up is a surprise .. For several months, he spent most of his time challenging for keenest golfer but finally he got his game together shooting 2 under his handicap : Oliver Watt.
The Stroke Play Challenge Cup was never returned by defending Champion Mark Cameron… The trophy sank with his house boat in Aberdeen during a dramatic fire but luckily Mark and his wife were safe and we were happy to see him yesterday.
Mark has ordered a new trophy in England but it will be difficult to recover 57 winners from one of the oldest LSW trophy.
After a wait of 15 years, LRC boy star Vance Lee finally made it to the winners podium with an excellent round shooting 3 under his handicap. Sadly he was also playing me in the Match Play which not surprisingly he won as well, 3&2
The other 1/4 final went to Lorenz Zimmerman 4&3 against Dave Collins.
And finally after 3 attempts, Tom McColl defeated Jonny Brock on count back.
