Not deterred by Corona or terrible weather, 11 brave souls including our guest Hilly Dannaoui went out on the Old Course on February 13th to compete for the PGA (aka Pretty Good Attendance) Cup. A staggering 9 players actually managed to complete the round despite thunder, lightning and heavy rain.
As a result and for the first time in history, the keenest golfer (John Harris) walked away with 3 OOM points in addition to a beautiful watch and the best golf balls money can buy.
On two of the Par 3s, nobody managed to hit the green, probably as a result of poor visibility. we may have to consider including a closest to the green competition during bad weather in future. Likewise, nobody had a 2 and none of the 0-10 handicappers hit the fairway on the 17th.
Richard, Noel and Randy won the team competition with Noel once again coming out as the overall winner with Vance as runner up. Best gross went to Nigel with Richard and Dave winning best front and back nine respectively.
Well done to all of you who played and we should also thank HKGC for not charging us for the considerable number of last minute cancellations.
Please see the match results and OOM standings attached. Note slight changes in the OOM points from the last event. Also, I hope you will agree that the players who played but did not complete their round on February 13th because of the tough conditions deserve 1 OOM point for their good effort.
Also, for the first time I saw that PCC was applied by the GHIN system with a +1.
Let’s hope for good weather and an improvement in the virus situation for our next event on March 11th.
