The President’s Trophy 2023 – aka the Raaj Shah golf day
We were blessed with gorgeous weather in Kau Sai Chau although the field was small with only 10 members and two guests competing for the President’sTrophy.
Sadly we have not been able to secure tee times at Fanling in March or April so we were obliged to book the tough North course for the “Fanling Refugees GS”, previously known as Little Sai Wan GS.
I was hoping that the small quantity of players would be more than made up for by high quality, but my hopes were to be sadly dashed!
Almost without exception people failed to come to terms with the pristine, fast greens and the challenges of the tough Gary Player designed course. There was however one exception.
Raaj Shah gave us a glimpse of what it must have been like competing against Tiger Woods in his glory day;
best gross, best net, sharp shooter, insane long drives, near pin , organiser , Match Secretary, golf genius guru etc…
He pretty much made a clean sweep of the prizes leaving a few crumbs for the rest of the field.
Well done Raaj. Our well deserved winner by a mile.
Our next event in April will be on the North course again using stableford format for the Rob Henderson Memorial Trophy.
